Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food safety and Halal Food Authority was established under the “KP-FS&HFA Act 2014" to ensure availability of safe and hygienic food for human consumption. The Act has been amended in June, 2017 and titled as “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety & Halal Food Authority Act”. Responsibilities and functions of the Authority are:1.To regulate and monitor the food business in orders to provide safe food.2.Formulate standards, procedures, processes and guidelines in relation to any aspect of food including food business, food labeling, food additives, and specify appropriate enforcement systems.3.Enforcement of food safety and quality standards.4.Provides scientific advice and technical support to the Government in matters relating to food safety.5.Establishment of food laboratories and standard slaughter house.6.Organize training programes in food safety and standards.7.Promote general awareness regarding food safety and standards
